By registering for or submitting a project to the Quran Foundation Hackathon, you agree to be bound by the following Terms & Conditions. Please read them carefully before participating.
1. Eligibility
- •The competition is open to everyone worldwide — developers, designers, students, entrepreneurs, vibe coders, product managers, researchers, and open-source contributors.
- •Participants may enter individually or as a team of up to 4 members.
- •Each individual may only be a member of one team. Participating on multiple teams will result in disqualification of all teams involved.
- •By submitting a project, you confirm that all information provided during registration and submission is accurate and truthful.
2. Team Rules
- •Teams may consist of 1 to 4 members.
- •Team composition must be finalized at the time of submission. Adding or removing members after submission is not permitted.
- •One designated team member must act as the primary point of contact for all communications with the organizers.
- •All team members are jointly responsible for ensuring compliance with these Terms & Conditions.
3. Submission Rules
- •Each team may submit only one project. Multiple submissions from the same team will result in disqualification.
- •All submissions must be received before the deadline: early Dhu al-Hijjah 1447 (May 20, 2026). Late submissions will not be accepted under any circumstances.
- •Submitted projects must meet the technical requirements outlined on the hackathon page — specifically, the use of at least one Quran Foundation Content API (or Quran MCP) and at least one User API.
- •Each submission must include:
- –Project title
- –Team member names
- –Short description
- –Detailed explanation of the idea
- –Live demo or working app link
- –GitHub repository (if available)
- –A 2–3 minute demo video
- –A description of how the APIs were used
- •Incomplete submissions that are missing required components may be deemed ineligible at the organizers' discretion.
- •Organizers reserve the right to request additional information or clarification from any team after submission.
4. Intellectual Property
- •Participants retain full ownership of all intellectual property in their submitted projects.
- •By submitting a project, participants grant Provision Launch and the Quran Foundation a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide license to display, reproduce, and promote the project and its associated materials (including demo videos, screenshots, and descriptions) for educational, marketing, and promotional purposes.
- •Participants warrant that their submission does not infringe upon any third-party intellectual property rights, including but not limited to copyrights, trademarks, or patents.
- •Any use of third-party libraries, frameworks, datasets, or assets must comply with the respective licenses of those materials. Participants are solely responsible for ensuring such compliance.
- •Submissions must not include proprietary code, confidential information, or materials belonging to any third party without explicit written permission.
5. Code of Conduct
- •All participants are expected to conduct themselves with integrity, respect, and professionalism throughout the competition.
- •Plagiarism of any kind is strictly prohibited. All submitted work must be original. Use of open-source code or third-party libraries is permitted only where properly attributed and licensed.
- •Participants must not engage in any form of cheating, manipulation, or dishonest behavior, including attempting to influence judges or misrepresenting their work.
- •Harassment, discrimination, or abusive behavior toward other participants, judges, or organizers — in any form — will not be tolerated.
- •Any violation of this Code of Conduct may result in immediate disqualification and, where applicable, forfeiture of prizes.
- •Organizers reserve the right to disqualify any participant or team at any time for conduct deemed harmful, unethical, or contrary to the spirit of the competition.
6. Prizes
- •A total prize pool of $10,000 USD will be distributed across the top 7 projects as follows:
- –1st Place: $3,000
- –2nd Place: $2,500
- –3rd Place: $1,750
- –4th Place: $1,250
- –5th Place: $750
- –6th Place: $500
- –7th Place: $250
- •Prizes will be distributed to the designated team contact within a reasonable timeframe after winners are announced. The organizers will communicate payment method details directly.
- •All applicable taxes, duties, or fees arising from the receipt of prize money are the sole responsibility of the winning participants. Organizers will not be held liable for any tax obligations.
- •Organizers reserve the right to withhold or withdraw prize awards from any participant or team found to be in violation of these Terms & Conditions, even after winners have been announced.
- •Prizes are non-transferable and may not be exchanged for alternative awards unless explicitly agreed upon by the organizers.
7. Judging
- •All submissions will be evaluated by a panel of judges from Quran Foundation, Provision Launch, and technology and design professionals.
- •Projects will be scored out of 100 points across five criteria:
- –Impact on Quran Engagement — 30 points
- –Product Quality & UX — 20 points
- –Technical Execution — 20 points
- –Innovation & Creativity — 15 points
- –Effective Use of APIs — 15 points
- •In the event of a tie, the project with the higher Impact on Quran Engagement score will be ranked higher.
- •All judging decisions are final and binding. No appeals or disputes regarding scores or rankings will be entertained.
- •Judges may recuse themselves from evaluating specific submissions in cases of conflict of interest.
8. Liability & Disclaimers
- •Provision Launch and the Quran Foundation shall not be held liable for any technical failures, outages, or issues that prevent or affect the submission of a project, including but not limited to server downtime, internet connectivity issues, or API unavailability.
- •Organizers are not responsible for any loss of data, incomplete submissions, or submissions not received due to technical errors.
- •Participation in this hackathon is entirely at the participant's own risk. Organizers make no warranties, express or implied, regarding the competition, its prizes, or outcomes.
- •Organizers reserve the right to cancel, suspend, modify, or terminate the hackathon at any time due to unforeseen circumstances, with reasonable notice provided to participants where possible.
9. Privacy
- •By participating, you consent to the collection and use of your personal information (name, email, team details) for the purposes of administering the hackathon and communicating with participants.
- •Winning project details, team names, and demo materials may be publicly shared by the organizers for promotional purposes.
- •Personal data will not be sold or shared with unaffiliated third parties without consent, except as required by law.
10. Modifications to Rules
- •Organizers reserve the right to update, amend, or modify these Terms & Conditions at any time. Participants will be notified of any material changes.
- •Continued participation after notification of changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms & Conditions.
11. Governing Law & Disputes
- •These Terms & Conditions shall be governed by and construed in accordance with applicable law.
- •Any disputes arising in connection with this hackathon shall first be attempted to be resolved amicably through direct communication with the organizers at Hackathon@quran.com.
- •The organizers' decisions on all matters relating to this competition — including eligibility, judging, and prizes — are final and binding.
